Advisor are required prior to enrollment in academic and
career training programs. There is also an orientation that is
required AFTER testing and Student Advisor meeting has been
completed.
PROCESS FOR ASSESSMENT (required before
registration)
Schedule your testing appointment by the schedule below.
This is NOT a testing window. You will need to
show up on time at 8am, 10am, or 1pm and
you will test for approximately two to three hours:
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 8:00 – 11:00am in Room 201
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 10:00 – 1:00pm in Room 201
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 1:00 – 4:00pm in Room 201
Wednesdays from 9:30 – 12:30pm in Room 200

Meet with our Student Advisor Jairus Goines in Room 101 after you
finish your assessment tests.

PROCESS FOR ORIENTATION (required before
registration)
After taking your assessments and meeting with our Student
Advisor, you can now attend CAJ Orientation
Our Student Advisor will give you the time and date for your
Orientation when you meet with him.
Orientation will take place Wednesday mornings from 8:30 – 9:30am
and will include an overview of the school, resources available
to students, and a campus/program tour!
PROCESS FOR REGISTRATION
Once you have taken your assessment tests, met with our
Student Advisor, and attended the CAJ Orientation, now you
can register for your academic class or career training program!
Please come to the CAJ Main Office and have your funding
secured to pay for your career training program. Full payment is
due at time of registration.
Each career program at CAJ has specific requirements.
To register for the program of your choice:
• Schedule and pass the CASAS reading and math assessment tests
with programs’ required scores and then meet with our
Student Advisor before attending the required CAJ
Orientation!
• Connect with teachers for program details during office hours
or by email
• Visit the Financial Aid office and start your FAFSA, if
desired, well in advance of the program start date
(appointments are available).
• Meet with Job Center staff for scholarship eligibility and
processing, if desired, well in advance of the program start
date.
• Complete a registration form and pay fees. Cash, credit
and debit, cashier’s check, and money orders are all accepted
forms of payment. We do not accept American Express cards or
personal checks.

This is the first step to your new career! Learn about the
exciting career training programs available. Students may
begin classes throughout the year on a scheduled basis as space
is available. All academic classes and career training programs
require excellent attendance. Student must show ID. Orientation
and assessment are required before enrollment. CAJ reserves
the right to cancel program start dates due to low enrollment.
The Charles A. Jones Career & Education Center is located at 5451
Lemon Hill Avenue in Sacramento and is easily accessible from the
47th Avenue access to Highway 99. The school is one-half block
west of Stockton Boulevard which offers regular bus service. Free
parking!
Career training programs at the Charles Jones Career & Education
Center provide job training for adults who are then prepared to
enter the fields of electronics, medical, nursing, business,
automotive and court reporting.
Students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds attend the
Charles Jones Career & Education Center to take advantage of a
wide selection of career technical and academic programs.
Adults who are interested in attending any of the courses offered
at the Charles Jones Career and Education Center must attend an
orientation. During the orientation, potential students are given
an overview of program offerings, school policies and an
introduction to the various community partners who provide a
valuable support system for our students. Students are given the
opportunity to discuss the program with instructors and coaches,
visit the classrooms if requested and ask questions specific to
the program area.
After this orientation, the students are given an assessment test
(basic reading and math).
You may also purchase your books through any online vendor
provided you use the correct ISBN number for the same
edition. Textbooks may be purchased used. However, study
guides and workbooks MUST be purchased new without markings of
any kind.
Career Training Programs vary in cost. Please see the
Programs of Study to see when the
course you want starts!
Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. Please visit
the Financial Aid Office for further information. Scholarships
are available for those who qualify. Please see the onsite SETA
Job Center down the hall from the main office.
Policies are in our catalog and every student registering at CAJ
is issued a student
handbook at the time of registration. It is the
responsibility of each student to fully read the handbook which
includes all student information and policies for the Charles A.
Jones Career and Education Center.
You can get a copy of your transcript by printing out and
completing the Academic Transcript
Request form and bringing it in to our office along with the
$20.00 processing fee payable in the form of cash, money order,
cashier’s check, Visa, or Mastercard. You can also mail in the
form with your payment. However, only money orders or cashier’s
checks are accepted for requests by mail. For requests with no
processing fees you may fax in the completed form along with a
copy of your photo ID.
Official GED transcripts can be obtained from the official GED
testing agency which changed on January 1, 2014. The web

GED transcripts prior to 1990, you must contact the test center
where you took your final test.
